Even a mobile graphics card like the 960M in my notebook has way more cores than the processor. i7 4720 HQ = 4 cores NVidia GTX 960M = 640 cores Always enable the CUDA feature of Cycles, if it's supported. Alternatively, there are online "render farm" services that charge pennies for the GHz/hour and can render your…
Hi I made new addon - Render Bevel - is simple blender addon, for making variable bevel size for round corner cycles shader. Script requires blender 2.79 daily build, aka 2.79a from here Render Bevel panel is located in3d View -> Tool shelf -> Tools tab -> Render Bevel panel. Get it from here (gumroad) or here (dropbox…
@EQ, Thanks for the clarification :) so one smoothing group should be ok for that mesh? the picture above is from the viewport, though the render displays similar results. Should the normal map compensate for these errors 100% in the viewport and the renderer? I will post the .blend soon :)
From a rendering stand point tho, heavy scene navigation is a very welcome feature :) Even Maya choke up when I try to fly around checking things in final render scenes, and the poly count wasn't anywhere near 100M.
Just wondering - I can't be the only one who gets really mad at Blender when it's time to render something out and the result includes all sorts of elements that are actually hidden in the viewport? Is there any quick way to only render visible objects instead of having to go through the scene basically object by object…
I guess I should ask, why WHYYYYY are you doing npr materials in cycles? Blender internal renderer is way more suited for tasks like that, and you can even render pretty much 1:1 results in openGL in real time.
It's one or the other. Probably your GPU is going to render faster than your CPU. Luxrender can use GPU and CPU but it's even slower than Cycles, plus iirc it doesn't do motion blur which you will probably want in an offline render.
