There's been a lot of great stuff in here lately! I've been working on something more along the lines of an illustration rather than concept for once. Gotta say, I struggled a lot with this one. Need more practice!
The illustrations remind me of the kind that would be in a French textbook. :) "How much money does jaques need to plan his trip?" Lots of vocabulary on the pages. Screaming baby, argument, contract, Travel Agent, Palm Tree, Shopping cart, etc.
Well, even though he put it slightly in perspective, if you look at 0:35 of the video, he puts it to a ruler. It measures the length of the cannon and illustrates the proportions between the different sections of it. Try using that as a ref rather than the image you put there.
spacey: splendid little girls; the parasol one makes me go 'hell yes' chaosquack: but the outer ring is fine; not sure about the yellow; recommend less smudge xvamp: that is a fun illustration - do carry on! devin: ... yes pls. keep at it dudes, etc. /salute this should be in a sketchbook thread, but I'll feed the beast.
Yeah, generally live trace does a pretty good job if you know the right settings. When I turn a vexel Illustration into vector normally(image sizes are 2500x2500 and up at 300 DPI) I can throw it in Illustrator and do a high fidelity photo pass with live trace, drop the minimal pixel density to 0 and color to 64. At those…
sampson: Pretty much, yeah. I actually imported an Illustrator file into Modo and worked from there, so it's definitely pretty messy. Slipstream: One of the projects I have in mind for the near future has to do with Ender's Game, so I'm planning on using that in the final presentation images. I also just wanted a cool…
Haha. And yeah, that octopus is bad ass. I was thinking of doing one in a similar fashion wrapped over a treasure chest for another illustration. Since I love me some bones, that was going to be added in too. Looks like I'm gonna scrap that idea now though haha. Won't compare to that badass bit of 3d. Kudos
Thanks man. I'm not sure when/if any of them will actually be printed. It's been a venture of mine of late to branch off from the typical logo/brand design stuff I had been doing and try and spin off into more illustration/apparel design. Since it's a recent change of scenery for me, I'm trying to develop a "client" list…
working on a website redo. i just realized i have to more than double my site for all my new/re-organized work. i guess that's what u get when working with an non-specific website [it's not a portfolio like you guys, it's a lot broader and more fun i like to think] experiments in illustrator, nothing too serious
Medestruit looking awesome as always, hope the next one you do continues with the sea theme, but has a deep sea diving suite / dry suite. Or perhaps work that into this one, e.g. deep sea diver with hand above the octopus's head as if to grab it? Could transform the illustration to more of a portrait orientation as well,…
