Actually that's not what I meant, you now have a whole line of tiles bending over the corner, tiles don't bend like that, they're made of porcelain and would break before even beginning to look like this. Check how tile filled walls and columns behave on corners: Tiles have to be cut accordingly to fit, you can't have…
Looks pretty good, although the outside eroding away to reveal bricks underneath is kinda unconvincing, it's a bit too uniform and geometric, and perfectly centered on the wall. Also, your main texture is too shiny. What's the wood board under the window for?
Well, not entirely about the corner tiles. There are round-cut tiles that mold to rounded surfaces. The only difference being that they usually aren't full tile size, generally more quarter-tile sized at most. Brick can be rounded too, :p
maybe its more like a dress? but its definitely very tight and some more flecible parts might be nice, but i really like the outfit :edit: i can make a quick tutorial for the bricks, but really its nothing special
Nice pedestal Neox. Would you be kind enough to tell us about how you made it? I know it's "just a pedestal" but it's really well made and I wouldn't know how an efficient way to lay those bricks in such a pattern if I was to make it myself.
Saw Glynn's thread about baking brick meshes to a plane to create a tillable texture, kinda worked, but can't figure why render to texture only works properly from a plane with scanline, and fails utterly with Mental Ray (for baking AO) Diffuse, Spec and Normal.
Sculpting a Stone Furnace for class. I'm liking my shapes but I feel some of my bricks are too smooth. Need to make those edges harder and definitely go to go in and add some chipping to them once I fix the interior to how I like it.
That's pretty awesome Jordan :) The atmosphere really reminds me of SotC; that's always a good thing. I agree with other guys about the DOF and slightly messy object placement tho. Btw, are you going to vertex blend some moss/dirt on top of those bricks? As they are now, they look a tad bare.
Looking good man! For the hard edge on the corner I would suggest making some 4 faced brick meshes and instance them down the corner, aligning them with the texture. It's what Valve did in left 4 dead and it works pretty well :) Adding some damage might also work in breaking the hardness of it.
Thanks for the help with the bricks guys.I feel like they came out a lot better than before. My low-res could've used an extra hour of work for silhouette strength but you know how deadlines are. I still like it though. My only regret was my choice of 'texturing' the furnace area rather than actually modeling it.
