I'm unsure why either is better or worse than the other. If i learned anything from PC, and modeling in general, It's that there is more than 1 way to skin a dragon. I'd like to see EQ and Perna go at it at work arguing over how to make some shape :D
Hello there. I'm a total noob when it comes to 3d modeling and i've been wanting to make a paper art with some topography 3d models that i can get online. I tried using google and asking some friends, but I don't even know the correct terminologoy for this. So I'm gonna send 3 images that sparked my art idea as an example…
If you have an Area account, here is a link to some great videos that will help you out with all kinds of crazy geo. The links to parts 1 & 2 are at the bottom. Hope this helps someone out :) http://area.autodesk.com/tutorials/inorganic_modeling_fundamentals_part_3 Opps these may already be on here, from the sounds of…
yay, Thanks to polycount i figured out how to do this =o Thank you so much for being a resource from the collective MeshMindset! 1. posted question 2. spent time reading wiki 3. found videos of subdiv hard surface modeling techniques 4. found Arrimus 3D 5. Thank you PC<3
I'd love something like Pixar's semi-sharp subdivision settings. If I recall correctly it's a 0-1 range and from what I could see it really takes away the time of doing supporting edges. Can't say what special features (or maybe it was in one of their online papers) I saw it in but man was it cool. Yeah it's hard to make…
I often work with concept artists that start with 3D as a base. They push, pull, drag and deform their blockout meshes like crazy. I want to use these meshes, but they have a metric ton of these shapes. My solution: Use a script that can set a face to be planar from a whole selection of faces. Bind this to a key you can…
Yes it´s more or less correct, but even with the now given geometry you should be fine enough i guess. Here is some kind of step by step: 1.Starting plane :P 2.Inset desired faces 3.deleted 2 polygons and adjusted it(i hope that part is clear enough) 4.Adjust shape(deleted 2 edges which came from the inset) and made new…
I am trying to model a snowmobile and im having trouble planning out how to do it. From what i have read in this thread so far im pretty sure ive made some mistakes. Has anyone here modeled a snowmobile or something similar, like an ATV or jetski that can give me some tips or guidance? I would appreciate any help that i…
Really you've just got to measure how large you want each link to be, an easy way to do this would be to create a cylinder with how many sides(# of links) you want, and then model 1 section of link to fit the size of one polygon from the cylinder. Then you just need to radial clone or however you want to duplicate the…
Hey < 3, working my head around this for a long time and don't even know where to start from... Sadly I can only provide 1 reference image (it's taken from http://yuumei.deviantart.com/). You can see it's some kind of venetian mask (hello Assassins Creed < 3). Top hat is easy, also the mask seems to be attached on a half…
