When I do contrast adjustments, generally i'll get my main contrast done in the RGB curve, then go back to R, G and B channels individually and play with them a bit. This one was pretty simple. I generally do curve adjustments per image, or per set if I have multiple photos with the same lighting, and just copy the curve…
These are some pics I did when I had a Pentax SLR, also was the first time I shot with an SLR, developed and made prints so hopefully they turned out decent. Been wanting to get back into B&W stuff but I have no space to build a dark room in my parents place so anyone know the cost at developing negatives in a store? Also…
Thanks Paul, nice to hear from you, as I definitely think you're one of the best photographers posting here. And I know nothing of analog gear, but the names all sound fancy haha. What is that little modern device in the center? A light meter ? HP: Cool, makes me wich I had more than an afternoon in SF when I was there.…
Thanks guys. @disanski: Asking never hurts; I personally prefer to use a wider lens and walk right up to the subject to take a picture. Using a telephoto lens to photograph someone across a street is fine but has a certain voyeuristic quality about it that I'm not a fan of, I'd rather try to make the viewer part of the…
So Mezz was itcommon or a hoary redpoll :) don't keep us waiting :) I am just back from my friend and I found out what kind was the camera that she has and unfortunately is not Rolleiflex. It turns out it is a Weltaflex with a 75mm f/3.5 lens but I am still very exited to take it out. She said that it can be used as it is…
Some more shots with the Rolleiflex, still trying to get a feel for the camera, and for film in general. Developing B&W film at home is something I'm going to start doing; I have a second bathroom in my apartment that has no windows which is convenient so I can completely block it off from light. I find the experience of…
haiddasalami (I just now realized what your name says as I tried to type it) here in Ottawa, the 'pro' photo place charges about $6 for colour and $6.50 for black and white film. B&W film is super easy to develop at home though. I started doing it in my bathroom and the only tricky bit it getting it totally dark while…
First off would be the 50mm 1.8, which you can get new for about $95 USD. I got mine from B&H not sure if you have an equivalent store like that. Its a prime lense, fixed focal length so you will have to "zoom with your feet" but like i said before is the sharpest lens you could possibly buy, its also small and light so it…
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Great point about the sword being unsheathed. Also good idea EQ - I was wondering a lot about the framing and what I wanted to do is give the viewer a bit more space to travel before it gets to the main subject and then stay there :) I see your point and I will try that with some of the…
The thing that gets me is, why when split focusing was around 40 years ago cant they put it in as standard now? I doesnt make any sense what so ever. I was only using stock college d80's so the lens is gona be cheap and poor (18-70 i believe, and slow at 3.5-4.5). I get what your saying that modern lenses arent designed…
