Hello, I have used my Megascan trial in order to try to beat our current pipeline with some Megascan textures. And the result was disapointing. [No worries the service is good but i will explain why i decide to stick with my old pipeline]. So Why Megascan was disapointing ? -Because we create 16m*16m textures, and if we…
In fairness to @lospri, He is right. Megascans was said to be a part of the Quixel Suite, but it was a very different concept back then I think. I just got the hobby subscription and so far I really like it. I don't know if we need many more tutorials as the ease of use of this is crazy. Well done Quixel!
Oh i also have a side question - if you buy one of the "packs" , do those assets get added to your megascans library? Can i download those assets again, or is it a one time download? I was really struggling with whether I should buy a pack, or just buy the points. Because right now it's not clear how the packs work.
My client is a game studio and wouldn't re-sell an asset as a separate good. it would be a part of their game. So basicaly isolated client. Right? Still on Quixel site it's mentioned I can't sell a texture from Megascan Studio , only a preset. You say I can That what makes the confusion. Could you make it more clear…
Is there a way to convert the specular f0 map into a ior map for use in vray. As it stands the specular f0 map is unused. Though I understand why I'd quite like the extra realism. There is a LUT file in the megascans bridge download folder, its name suggests it does exactly this, but I can't find any explanation on its…
I was curious to see what level of details could be achieved with Megascans, so I've snatched the free Mud sample in 8k resolution and rendered it with iRay as a 15360x15360 image. Here's the preview and Dropbox link to compressed JPEG in original resolution for anyone interested. Be aware - it's still 55 MegaBytes,…
Do you have any plans for stylization filters or something along those lines (like bilateral filter, surface blur for instance)? That ultra realistic look is great if that's what you aim for, however during my time with assets from the closed megascans beta i sometimes encountered some issues with clashing art styles…
@martinkrol - right on - exactly my point. :) I see Megascans as a hardware store. Carpenters didn't become obsolete or unoriginal because Lowe's or Home Depot are able to sell nails, screws, boards, etc. It meant that more people have access to create and build things at an affordable price. Of course, just having access…
Loggie: Imagine it more like buying a Lego set. You get a bunch of predetermined blocks with varying shapes, but essentially one Lego is the same as another Lego - they're fungible commodities. In the end, what you create with your Lego set determines how interesting it is to look at, even if everyone else uses the same…
That looks nice ! Maybe the normalmap is not needed for offline renders then. (It definitely is for Toolbag though, since in TB displacement only affects silhouette and does not produce any surface deformation reacting to light/shading). I think Quixel definitely need to release a sample surface Megascans showing a range…
