Thanks I been waiting for someone to make a top down sketch, a final note I used the sculpt geometry tool a few times as this is a organic hard surface to get my smoothness at optimal level.
Hey guys, haven't really done a whole lot of hard surfaced modeling. But figured I should get started on practicing this, since most of my work is low poly. Here's the Concept1 bolt modeled. Wireframe
The mistakes i do today, is the success im working for tomorrow lovely frase. Guys make the bolt is really hard, I am fightying for the last 2 hours. please dont post the new objects for next week yet
Hey Guys, I've just created a Skype Group for the Hard surface challenge. If you'd like to discuss challenges in real time, Or chat about how to move the thread in the right direction, Please PM me with your skype contact info.
@Commador: I wish I had a solid number for you. It was on an off over the week. Really hard to say. Maybe 4-5 hours? That sounds too long, But maybe with all the interruptions and stopping it took that long. @ZacD: Glad you approve!
Alright, my quest for hard surface mastery starts here, i´ll try to do at least one of these per day while i´m also learning the tool, in my case modo! So here it is, week 1 concept 1
I think two objects per week is a great idea, so we can choose which one to model some objects are more complex than others. At the beginning people were concern about the simplicity of the objects, perhaps the pieces are not to difficult to model,(for me is hard enough) I though we can make this challenger more…
Took a stab it this. Really great idea! Need to practice my hard surface more. Anyway here are my renders. Oh and Marmoset triangulates everything so the wire isn't exact to what I modeled. Ooops here are my wires in link form.
Not unless you really want to :) The main point was the head of the bolt, seeing as it would be the only portion visible on a finished hard surface model. Glad to see you guys are going to join in! Working on the complex model as we speak. Should have it in 30-40 minutes give or take.
Uhm... not quite what I would consider hard surface practice, and even less being someone's concept art instead of some knife that exists in real life. Maybe something more Science-fiction oriented would have been more fit.. Hope next week we get something slightly different. For now, I'll finish last week's. Good luck to…
