Heyho, first off, thank you s6 for putting together the challenge, it's a fun exercise and i already learned a lot! :) To my model: It took me longer then expected and the proportions are off here and there. But overall i'm pretty satisfied with the result. Can't wait for the next Challenge! Render: smoothed wires…
Hello Everyone. This is my first post on Polycount :) I see some really great work and I wanted to join in the fun. I know its a little late, but better late than never. This is my HP for now. Gonna try and add the small details in mudbox soon. Any critiques would be great. Thx.
Had much fun with that small challenge, I screwed (ba dum tss) the first bolt with triangles and had to improve my topology. Wires : http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2014/02/1389547399-wireframe.jpg BTW : How did you guys model the spiral shape of the shaft ? I tried Max's helix tool but couldn't get something steady :
This one was/is remarkably difficult for me. I might go back and tackle it cause there are some glaring issues that I see. Otherwise its done for now. I"m trying to keep up the Pace of one of these models per week, up until I get the whole list done. So far, its been a great, and fun process.
Having fun with this one, There are some clear changes I need to make, missing a few holes. I don't think I"m going to put the bolts in the model. I am having a difficult time with the edges inside of the two holes on the top. (I've actually got to re do those, they're not circles, they're more ovals) . Oteherwise, having…
shirogatsu, the render looks great. And thanks for starting this, s6. :) I gave it a few hours, I had poor judgement when I started with the front part where the screws are and threw off the proportions there, but it was fun just doing some sub-d modeling. :) My edges are probably too sharp, but maybe I'll go back later…
Here's mine. I did both just for fun :) Excuse the small image sizes. My pc is currently out of action so I'm using my laptop and as I type this I realise I probably could have hooked up my monitor to my laptop for bigger screenshots ha. Wk02 Done! Definitely found this one a bit more challenging than wk01 but it was fun. Lots of interesting shapes and edge flows to puzzle through. I think that's a great idea to share workflows as we all go through these. I'll have to try and document my stuff through the various stages on the next one. And nice render…
I like the idea, but two things: 1. People have to dedicate a large amount of time to the noob challenges. It seems fair people have a say in what they are spending a month on. This however, Can be accomplished in an hour or two. 2. Voting requires participation and some level of footwork by other people, and that's one…
Spending some time to learn how to properly render, but for now I will keep providing snapshot of the finished model. Overall fun little burner thought it would be a much simpler model then it turned out. Made it out of a 58 sided cylinder. Advanced Model Advanced Wires I also made a 36 sided one and notice pinching…
