For some reason those bricks look a bit odd , maybe is the divison between them. Also, are those cracks part of the texture or are they decals? O and about Ddo I dont mind it and sound useful , but texturing is part of the fun for me.
Hmmm seems like I did have the Y inverted during my normal map generation process. I just flipped it back and the normals on the top edges of the brick seem to pop out more. Thanks for asking! :D
On my second pass at the wall seems to be heading in the direction I want. Now looking at the first picture I posted of the wall just doesn't look like a brick wall. @RobRoy - Done! @ScribbleHead - reason I went noisy on the wall because the walls on many pictures I saw were very noisy. I dont know any other way to mimic…
@minorthreat Looks good, but I think you went too fantasy on this. And what's up with that blueish AO? redoing my brick texture. And this is what I got so far.. it's so slow. There are some old textures I'll be replacing very soon :poly121:
Looks great Alex, but two things bug me. One: the dark water stained bricks. Seems too even. Another thing are the bottles. They stick out because they are reflecting a blue light when they'd look better reflecting a warm light (or the scene).
I'll defiantly work on that! The cracks are actually because of the light and the POM. I'm trying to work on my materials and having them read right. I also just found myself wanting to wipe off the bricks so I feel like I made them dirty enough.
Few more updates. Also as in the last image, changed the brick our for stone. Wanted this to be part of a older building where they would use stone instead. Still need to do the railing for the stairs. Once thats done, ill move onto the drywall behind the stairs and the pillars. Then onto props.
I like the Vertex painting. I use it frequently as you can break up the tile look and add variety in the scene. One thing, im not sure if you added it, hard to tell from your picture, but does it have a normal map? Cracks in between the bricks all seem to be the same color.
Thanks:) I'm excited to see what you come up with. This is my attempt at realism but I feel it's more stylized so I guess I'm failing. Haha. Also, got the correct cubemap on the bottles as well as set up an environment probe. AND BEFORE A WORD IS SPOKEN ON THIS MATTER, I will correct the corner bricks.
@akh Those cracks are too random. It looks more like cracks from dry earth than cracks on a brick wall,, which would be subtle. @jamie Thats the right direction, I would try to match up the wood tones bcs right now it looks like each piece is using different types of wood.
