I started some simple studies of "shape" recently. It's not a lot but it's a start, gave me an idea of what it's like . On another note. My life drawing tutor seemed really pleased with my progress over the past year, which was great to hear!
Now I realized you probably drew many of those of live models, so nice that you go to courses. Don't forget to do simple pencil studies of anatomy. Live stuff is all about speed and sharp eye, so you have to have a foundation of proportions beforehand. Do all those carefully measured 'boxy' line figures you see in drawing…
Been terrible at keeping up with the journal over the last couple months, but I have been keeping up with the art which is the important thing. I have started a life drawing course at a local college to go along with my sketchbook work. 52 images to follow!
Quick update seeing as I had the photo's ready in time :) First photo has a little auto contrast done, the lighting cause the picture to be a little washed out. The next two images, not great but an odd pattern came through the board I was drawing on onto the newsprint.
Sometimes I wonder if I take the whole "post everything" idea a little too seriously :poly124:. I have resumed life drawing classes, which makes me happy. The arm on the study below was horrible, I only managed to "save" it with shading away the inaccuracies :poly136:.
It's getting harder and harder for me to upload all of my art here now, for numerous reasons. I upload on two other pro-art forums besides here, all at the same time and generally with the same content. Each site has it’s own quirks with uploading, but they are all blown away by Instagram. On Instagram, every night I can…
Well done! I definitely see a lot of improvement over the last couple pages, you are showing a lot more confidence in how you handle your linework, which comes with practice and knowledge of your subject - keep it up! I have two pieces of advice for you. The first is to make sure you are measuring and comparing everything…
Ashinokami, I feel like it doesn't seem like I am taking your advice on board. What I mean is, I am taking it on board, but I fear it may not seem like it to you. You have given me several things to improve on. I have been dragging my feet a lot in doing this which has staggered my drawing a lot and made me reluctant to…
Hey there man :) I would agree on checking out andrew loomis books and maybe starting out with his head and hands book. He shows you how to draw the head in a pretty structured way in there and which you can then use as a base for drawing your own faces in the future. One other thing i notice is that some of the pictures…
I'm doing a concept art course at the moment, and we spent a while doing life drawing. Once thing I realised, which I think might help you, is to get the initial linework right, then the rest will follow. You seem to be a really confident painter, but I think it's the step before painting that might lt your work down.…
