I'm pretty sure this will do what you want: http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/ParticleSystemReference.html#Lit%20Particles In cascade just click in an empty area where the modules go and in the properties go to LOD>LODSettings>Lit and check it to be true
I agree with tinman shep, I think it looks closer to how you should go with just the smoothed vert lit.. I reckon pull your textures back a bit. the vert lit city looks ace
*Portfolio updates* That is 3D. It is a maya screen shot actually. The trim on the silo is using a cgfx shader, and the rest is flat lit. The bear is using a custom self lit shader thats just faking a nice back light and fresnel.
What interesting is that both my helmet and body share the same base color. but in this screen shot that is shown below after tweakign my directional light the main leader is lit and the the guy on the right is lit but the middle guy is super dark...
