None of the other questions besides the quoted are important. The only thing that really matters: Is my art appealing? Projecting here but I'd say just forget about technicalities of 3d for a moment and only focus on learning what makes appealing art. Learning to do the technical optimizations is the easy part - there is…
Problems like these are just inherent in CAD data which is typically not set up for tessellation. You can try different software to tessellate these parametric surfaces. Or you can use retopology tools to make a wholly-new topo. 3ds Max has really nice retopo tools, works really well with hardsurface models too.
Covering repetition is a nice thing.. but if you keep these 6 patches of the same wood texture completely the same you can basically use 1/6 of the texture space and tile it more often.. I'd try to improve the texture some more and add some general dirt and stuff already in. The same applies to the cap texture (sry don't…
been thinking about what to do with him today, i had always thought just to arm him to the teeth rambo style (i think ill be keeping him topless) however ive been considering making him less typical, maybe make him a cook (spoon where a bayonet should be, and a frying pan where a shovel might hang) or maybe making him part…
hey pior, thanks for you feedback :) the only thing I want to change is the face ( not that comic/manga like) and the rough proportions of the human body, but the rest I try to achieve like in the concept How would you start with a character like that ? Because I waste much time with the creation of the different parts…
Small update based on feedback, mostly lighting changes and small alterations to the walls. I might replace all the wooden chairs with office-y swivel chairs, who knows. And the chunky CRT monitor annoys me too - it looks nice in Marmoset, so I'm thinking that it's a Lightmap related thing. Might chamfer the edges and…
Ya I've been reading this book for a while ( [ame="https://www.amazon.com/MEL-Scripting-Character-Rig-Maya/dp/0321383532/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1328347790&sr=8-3"]Book[/ame] ), but its kind of dry and taking along time for me to go from reading it and using the concepts introduced in the book. What I'm really interested is…
Things are pretty dry after about a month of looking in Vancouver. There are some postings but I reckon their is alot of competition on the remaining openings, especially for artists. I'm about to pack and move out of Van, but a friend sent me a link and a Interview in the morning. If you work is up to snuff to the games…
His overall color seems a bit cartoony. Try to get more of the colors to carry over from one area to the other. Right now they are very cut and dry color wise. His arms could really stand to have a bit more dynamic flow to them, as right now they look a bit tubey. I think his boots are a bit too yellow, and the straps…
Texture work almost finished thx for the comments You will never know what the future brings. :P Seriously, you all right! It has a lot of very stylized huge rounded forms that makes it definitely look fancy. I reduced the cartoony look a bit by changing the colors, i hope it looks now more like a crazy and somehow real…
