This is awesome! it has a great oldschool "man in a suit" feel that reminds me of movies like the fifth element, and I mean that in a 100% good way. keep it up!
Good luck getting shadow quality like that with the current gen hah. Shadows are still so shitty; cause of strobing, small map sizes, and other elements.
What's fascinating is that I actually did a reset transform on the entire model, and that still gave the same result - I didn't think of separating into elements, resetting, and then recombining!
If you're rendering the texture from a highpoly source you can just render the elements with different colours and use the colours as masks. That's what I'll usually do.
The perspective is indeed rather strange but I think it's an element that helps make it what it is. I'm really curious as to what the latest pic could do once it's plugged in
steam boy , hellboy has elements to it that show, online web comics such as Girl Genius is another one drawing steam punk http://www.crabfu.com/steamtoys/diy_steampunk/
Another update as I add more elements for mood and such. Comments and helpful critics welcomed and much needed. :) There may be things I dont see that you do.
If you don't want to use color to separate fore-mid-back grounds, then try some subtle DOF on the fore, and increasingly intense DOF on the background elements.
yeah ,but would you really put that in your portfolio and expect to get a job? I do the same for scenes that have background pieces obviously, but not as foreground elements.
