actually i would break the whole effect down into parts. first muzzleflash just an effect which emits when the gun fires - attached to the gun itself. the projectile: the old particle systems were able to do stuff on colition, the new one cant. but you can easily spawn a projectile prefab - which might be better anyway… -

Its cool. Don't put too much pressure on yourself, really. If you find someone that is good at modeling animeish heads, they most likely started out by modeling subpar anime heads. I don't know if your generation had the magic school bus too, but take chances, make mistakes, and get messy. Thats how you gain the experience… -

I think DVDs should do the trick. They won't last forever, but I bet they'll last maybe 10-15 years at the very least if you treat them alright. Chances are you won't even need the stuff you're backing up in that time, and if you do, you could copy them, or put them on whatever magical storing device we'll have by then.… -

I'm a bit confused on the subject of tessellation. Does DirectX11 just magically move more polys now? I guess what I'm getting at is, instead of guessing what the outcome of a displacement map will be, can we just model with a lot more tris now? Because I'd rather do that then monkey around with displacement maps and hope…
