Even the masks are just place holders I think they will look cool with the masks giving the beast a very uneasy feeling from it just saying. Otherwise it looks really cool so far. :)
Thank you for replying, and I apologize for not mentioning the software, yes it is Zbrush. it's not masking, I tried to unmask and mask, it just doesn't seem to be working, and when I turned on the polyframe, this what I got
Pretty much everything you described is what I ended up doing. Really wish there was an option to mask whole environment groups, rather than having to change all the individual masks in dDo.
Still not a channel lock toggle, no. However, if you rightclick a layer you can choose split alpha->alpha into mask and the whole alpha channel will become a mask that you can edit with filters and stuff.
Try extracting the masked tooth (crisp the mask edge) on the sphere if you want them to be convex like the ones you have right now. If not, do it on a flat plane then refine it a bit. Good luck! :)
Ok got it working. Turns out since I had the mask stored in the alpha channel of the normal map, the normal map was set to Color in the Sampler Type in the material . I ended up just separating the mask to its own texture and set it up that way, and it worked fine.
What about a gradiated mask. Excuse the spelling. But it would be black at the top and bottom, and grey to white in the middle. Basically the mask would allow it to 'fade' in and 'fade' out at top and bottom while its panning.
Thanks man ! i made his mask's corners with dynamesh, i used move brush to make the shape and flatten brush to smooth it out, then a quick retopology on mask to get a clean mesh with thickness,
