Expand the Loft in the Modifier Stack, select 'shape' and then select the shape you want to change and rotate it.

Yep as Lamont says if you just select the poly and look at the selection rollout its will say in there.

I think I always select Polygons, Tri's and Total+Selection, something along the lines of that.

In max: Select some edges, click to create shape from selection on the edit poly panel.

select the outer border one edge at a time, align the verts until it's straight. then select and relax the inner verts or, use relax using ignore outer border.

Make sure you go the the Target area and select "Bake selected surfaces" - This should solve it for you.

Something useful i learned is there is a select by number type thing under the selection tab for finding tri's and Ngons
