Toroidal space stations are a bit of an old 70's hard scifi thing. Larry Niven has a whole series about one called Ringworld where it's a massive open-ring world built by an extinct alien race. It's open to space but has these massive walls around the edges that are so tall they literally keep the artifical atmosphere… -

if youre making this for your portfolio I would personally suggest you all focus on quality rather than quantity.
