I did a ton of it in college. You'll want to build a little press out of a few pieces of plywood and the special screen hinges. it makes doing this stuff by hand much more manageable. the shirts we managed to make were pretty professional and clean because of it. i'm sure some small presses can be found or perhaps those… -

Huh had not noticed shift for loop not working. Double click works for loop and shift click works for ring. Very weird. Select span is more reliable at least. -

If I understand correctly, try selecting an edge ring and then Connect. Set the edge count to 2 and adjust the pinching to what you want. Then do the same to the perpendicular edges. -

Yeah, and in that case you probably want a special-case newton's rings shader, you can't really get that look with just a standard colored spec map either. -

I got mine on ebay for about usd 40. For the price, even the sexy brushed steel base and the glowing blue ring only were worth the investment :P
