Used Pigdin for a while, now switched to Miranda - even slicker. 2 plugins I use : the one showing your own current avatar picture, and the one for tabbed conversations. Vrav, thanks alot for the heads up on Katmouse. It's a new favorite!!!!
The deep eyes are entirely Svartberg's idea and I have actually modified the material so you could see them not glowing in the video sometimes, but I had to turn the flicker off for the GIF to make it fit Artstaion's stupid limitations on GIFs Thanks for the kind words)
Personally, I'd remove the t-verts and convert them into a quad. T-verts tend to create holes in the mesh, even if they're tiny ones. You will see flickering from whatever is behind it. Any t-vert can become a quad if you connect it together.
Thanks @ZombieDawgs - I'll see what we can do with sprucing up the lighting of these shots. Maybe a candlelight dinner and the flickering of lightning in the distance... but maybe not. Seriously though, any suggestions on what lighting approach would make it really shine? Well, not literally shine :)
I split the stars and nebula into different textures, and ran a panned noise texture on each (nebula is simply added on top) So now the stars flicker and the nebula kind of warps. Updated the gif, apparently you can just upload those, d'oh
I would look into the emissive channel. using the emmisive channel will allow you to give the shader the warm orange glowing light that you want. you could multiply this with a vertex color which you control via a matinee node to controll the flickering.
illybang is right - that flickering ("Z-fighting") is caused by the pieces overlapping. It looks like the pieces aren't a size that will snap to the grid nicely - ensure they are exactly 256 units long. Could you also post a screenshot of the top-down wireframe view in UDK?
thanks! I really enjoyed making it, its not perfect really, I can see parts I would have liked a bit slicker haha. Gonna have to see what I want to do for my next little personal project :)
Here is the first update 0.2, still VERY RAW. It doesn't flicker anymore and works on currently active Editable Poly or Edit Poly Modifier. Still need to rework the Zoom part. Get it here. Evaluate and find it under category "IllusionCatalyst Tools"
@repete thanks for that mate.Hopefully Mikkt will be added soon. I've pretty much given up on QS for the moment(sticking with SP) as it seems incredibly slow and bug-ridden. And the endless flickering screen every time I click a button is quite off-putting.
