Hi, I use Blender and have been trying to make these diamond shaped spikes (see Figure 1) on the back of this revolver's hammer. So far I haven't been able to find a solution that creates them without causing massive smoothing errors. The final model will be baked down to make a game-ready asset. Figure 1 - Diamond Spikes…
I wanted to push myself and so made this challenge for myself and to share with others: First paragraph is my own challenge. The second bit should be super easy but may present a good beginner's challenge. Now I can do the geometry, a bit of touch up, and get it shading just fine. But I want to do it procedurally and…
Ok so here we go @rogue1 Proportions might still not be correct, I was not really going for that! Adjust segmentation for your needs. ... Im showing a sequence, steps after each other... - On the first one, we can see a 64 sided cylinder - other segmentations would probably work too. - On the second one we can see a 1/8th…
hey! I checked out the GameArt Workshop and saw the AW weapon. Just curious on how to model some parts of it. Oh and no im not joining the GameArt Workshop #4. I'm just trying to learn some new stuff, hehe So the part im going to ask about is 1) Can you see the shape is curved, and goes inwards? Havn't been able to get…
Unless they're using some sort of voodoo that shouldn't be possible, the shapes quite literally cannot merge like that without disturbing the linear angle of the sides taper, it's not a matter of topology. If you have some better reference though I'd be glad to give it another spin. To answer your other question, the steps…
Okay, so i've been watching this thread a lot, lots of wonderful stuff you guys share, but i've encountered a problem and i have no clue on how to model/fix it I gave it a try, but didn't turn out to well Here's what i'm trying to make (ref) http://oi45.tinypic.com/v2tmp4.jpg It's basically 2 cylinders perpendicular to…
@cheesy_bean_900 Hi there, welcome to Polycount and before posting it's always useful to familiarize oneself with certain guidelines/rules which by the way are listed on page 1 of this thread, not only for community cohesion but also invaluable for others to consider, then perhaps in turn share potential solutions or offer…
Hi there: Welcome too Polycount. Now just something to keep in mind when asking for help with subd modeling. There are a few simple rules for posting outlined on page 1 of this thread, basically it's expected that either an image of a attempt you've struggled with or a reference that you've no idea how to approach, is…
You wouldn't want to have the whole track and surrounding area be 1 mesh, unless you're going to see it from VERY far away. So if this is a background object this is fine. However if the intent is to drive on the track, you'd want to make a piece of straight track with a few different texture variety versions. Then you…
@KungFuCactus in addition to the above advice offered thus far, another technique that'll achieve the Knurling pattern non-destructively on the hammer is by utilising Blender's modifier stack using the addon Speedflow. https://twitter.com/pitiwazou https://twitter.com/pitiwazou/status/1111389590785417216/video/1 ...also in…
