My sister (Bee) and I are designing an 80's sci-fi anime themed m4a4 for the Polycount contest. The main illustration idea was inspired by the anime "Plug suit" and the space suits from Gundam
started the final concept pose. not liking the hands at the moment they look a little awkward. also trying to figure out how to maybe make the bag look more cyberpunk/ sci-fi and work on the rendering a little more.
I'll join the party! Some really inspiring progress here. This is a "metal" sci-fi wall I made in 2010 while practicing how to texture stuff lol. And two of my latest finished personal pieces:
Dude! I was actually playing Earthworm Jim the other day and thought how would it be to make it in Sci-fi. You beat me to it! :) Very good work man. I like that its all zbrush as well.
Here's a bunch more shots of some of our substances - all procedural, rendered in Toolbag. Built by GameTextures artists Matt Dirks, Arvin Moses, and the amazing sci-fi console substance was built by Paweł Łyczkowski Built
The overall work is nice, but what I really like is the hinges. Its something that is missing from a lot of sci-fi design, and this makes them look not so functional sometimes. Maybe you should add more.
The idea was not about when it released, mate :) I took the style it came with. It looks just like sci-fi that starts from 60's and end's in 80's. So i thought it can be nice and fun :)
@Mallaria: Great Concept, if you want to push it more into sci fi I would mimic the shovel head details some where in the costume. Also maybe make her other props more high tech
aesir, have you read the sci-fi book R R Martin just put out? As much as I would have liked him to work on Feast of Crows, Tuf Voyaging is a very good book.
post apocalyptic realistic sci fi fantasy! i hope fred will avoid the whole "here's some concepts, chose one, but don't make it exactly like it" approach like he did for the unearthly challenge, that was terrible.
