The trail that goes in to the woods on the left, that ends in a brighter color, I think you should do a texture that have it's features instead of your XY tiling texture you have now. You would have to model out the path and map in straight to your texture though. The brightness in the end of that trail really helps guide… -

It's good that you are thinking ahead about what you are going to need before you start. One suggestion i have for you: Build everything in low quality in your 3D app before yo start your production props. By low quality, i don't mean blockout meshes, i mean build them like you were only trying to figure out the modularity… -

Individual assets or groups of assets would be best just in terms of general process. That way when you get down to making everything "for reals" you can swap out each updated new piece as you go instead of re-exporting the rest of the blockout minus the new piece. No, that's not why you can't re-cast (it shouldn't be).. It's just how MEL works as as scripting language I suppose. DIfferent languages, different quirks.
