Hi, here is another stone texture I have been working on for like 20 mins, how can I improve it? I'm trying to get a look similare to Orcs must die, please point out errors etc... thank you! (Tileable texture)
I run out of memory frequently with 8gb just doing illustrations in photoshop, even if you have history states set to the default of 20, flipping the canvas a few times while working at conservative print resolutions will rapidly absorb all your available memory.
If you're just making environment art that has no organic skin shading needed, just drop $20 bucks for UE4 if you're willing to get an actual game engine to do some screenshots. They ARE subscription, but they don't lock you out of the program if you stop subscribing.
I currently work for a company that had a farming game on Facebook 6 months before anyone even knew who Zynga was. :( (we peaked at around 20 mil users before Zynga's raw ad dollars ended up mind controlling everyone). They are evil.
4 out of the original 60, only 20 of which actually graduated from my year. Including myself, altho 2 of us came from modding backgrounds, the majority of peeps had no idea or interest tbh, just thought playing games = games job.
There is that TED Talks that claims 20hours. It'll take a lot more to master to the point of doing some quality Dota2 items though. [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MgBikgcWnY"]The First 20 Hours - How to Learn Anything: Josh Kaufman at TEDxCSU - YouTube[/ame]
There was another thread like this where Justin_M made a live stream, 20-30 people came and had a chat and it was fun! I am going to dig that thread for you, give me 2 minutes! Edit: Here it is :) http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77706
But 4k means making bigger textures which will take longer to make which means more work for all of us! *$$$ ka-ching! $$$* Or using procedural textures like I did 20 years ago using POV-ray! *$$$ ka-ching! ka-ching! $$$*
Update, progress on UV and low poly, tri count is at 58000: In the end I split the body in 2 4k Maps and a 2k map for the steering part (pink checker), that will also be at 20 or 22px/cm for higher detail in first person renders. C&C welcome! :)
If you already have a nice mic, you can try to just isolate the mic from the keyboard noise, something like this might work well enough http://blog.usedavesvoice.com/2011/08/20/diy-mic-gobo-shield-mudguard-for-10-bucks-at-walmart/
