Just finished my first pass on the robe of the statue. I'm turning the scene into a more Lord of The Rings themed environment. So the statue is going to be of a nazgul in the same pose. -

I thought the opening ceremony was pretty terrible except for the forging of the rings and the queen/james bond bit (although the helicopter cgi film was quite bad in some places). -

Modify > Unitize, Select the inside edge ring, deselect the edge where you want your seam to be. At this point it should look like this: Then just click on stitch together. -

there it is. A bunch of the little things arent on there because they are either just repeats or I'm just painting them, the rings, dreamcatcher etc. otherwise I'm on to baking ambients and norms then texturing. -

You're using far too harsh angles. Both the wings and the parts that hold them are round, yours aren't. Also the wings get wider by the time they end, not skinnier like your model. Also the wings at the end may look like they wave in and out, it's just the angle of your reference. In fact they are flat. You can see here…
