Thanks @Ragnar_Danneskjöld, I've seen that book floating around over the years, but never had a chance to look at it. Your review has sold me. I'll be ordering soon for sure. @DGB : Good point, I see what you mean. I'll be sure to correct this on my next update.
@Enalya Thank you for your opinion. Don't worry. it's not vague. Actually, I thought about it too, but I decided not to make it darker because the ribbons going to float around her. ....wait...hm..... Maybe it's still worth to do it. I'm going to do final tweak. Thanks a lot!
@lockey1995 The most optimal way would be trim sheets for a staircase, yes, since there is plenty of repeating elements. What you referred to in the first post, the sheet with tons of different details that don't flow together, is known as a decal sheet. Which can be used to just float details onto meshes.
Thanks a lot, AtlusZMH! I changed some of the topology as you suggested and changed the smoothing group and now it looks alright! :) Didn't detach the geo so it floats tho, as I'm not sure if the engine would like that. But yeah, bake looks decent enough to move on to texturing :D Thanks a lot!
Hey, thanks guys. Ah okay, I was wondering if it was a soft alpha to help blend into the other tiling geo. It just floats above the other portion a bit? The geo would look something like this? With the alpha fade blending into the texture below, but hiding the hard edge cutoff of the geo below?
Hi Hito, Is looking really cool! I agree with HeXify about the weight and the rolling feet! one seems like is floating. Maybe more bounce on the landing steps will help to improve that. and second maybe more subtle bend on the toes could help. Those details fix and will look badass!
I'm back! I got distracted... Anyway here's my progress, please feel free to give feedback. I'm still not very happy with the floating rocks texture and layout (besides the main one) and the tree doesn't actually have a spec map yet... Overall it needs some polish. but...
Dig around here: http://www.savedisney.com/ and: www.animationnation.com Lots of info floating around. I'd get into how Michael Eisener is a halfwit, and all that good stuff, but you should find all that info in the 2 links. edit* Disney's foray into the world of 3d http://movies.msn.com/movies/FamilyFilms/ChickenLittle
kill cat. seriously, the other thing you gotta worry about is the fucking POUNDS of cat hair that floats around the air, and makes its way into your fans. Haven't had a problem with him chewing on wires, more just trying to multiply himself by shedding, inside my computer.
For the last thing, you need an animation blueprint, and a standard blueprint to control it. You could have float values for which door is open by how much for example. The mesh can be rotated upon importing it. There is a transform field on the bottom of the import dialogue, and you can change the rotation there.
