Luma pictures (http://www.luma-pictures.com/) the lead visual effects house for this flick, only had a 7 milion budget to spent for all the vfx shots in the movie. I think they did an awesome job compared to the 117 milion spend for vfx on Weta's King Kong. -

I've been paid internationally, via Paypal instant, Paypal echeque and a wire transfer. AFAIK, both instant Paypal and a wire transfer have fees. I don't think a Paypal echeque does, but it can take up to 5 - 7 working days to clear. -

Ah thanks for the links. I'll try that out, looks like it could be useful when working on advanced models. EDIT: Can you explain how to install the QC plugin for Notepad++ for Windows 7? I tried it using the method for Windows Vista but it didn't work. -

Doesn't work in versions of Photoshop prior to CS2 though. We had to use PNGQuant with Photoshop 7 in order to get pngs w/alpha on PS2. I use CS3 now as do most studios of course, but a lot of smaller studios and outside contractors might not. -

I checked the website stats today and found out it was 50% IE and 50% netscape 7 (guessing thats firefox); so I've checked it out in firefox and it had some problems (namely not reading the CSS). I've updated that so now its perfect in both -

I know the EA employees went thru a 12 hour a day 7 days a week crunch as of Sept 20th till release of Lord of the Rings.....which people don't talk about...Soul? I had inside info at a GNomon class I attended. -

Plugins and whatnot can really crash Maya. Otherwise, it is far more stable than 3dsmax (6, 7, or 8) for me. The exception is the Direct X exporter plugin. I couldn't press Ctrl+Shift for a month because Maya would freeze every time.
