Make sure you have the normal map applied correctly in max, that it isn't loaded as a bump map or anything weird, and that the strength is set to 100%. -

But if you are uncertain then as I said you can see which map is in which channel in photoshop, thus giving you a 100% correct answer :) -

Mainstream would be to "copy" the characters form other franchises like dota 2 and lol do. Blizzard is 100% original and genuine, give or take. -
