usually a skylight will destroy normals if thats all you render with, like people who love clay renders wonder why their normals dont show. with a strong key light casting shadows they should show up fine, especially if the skylight is rather low and just helping to add ambient light to the shadows. -

why has this got to be such a pain! step one : export from XSI to a .smd i use max and have no idea what an smd is. is it a XSI specific thing? is it a third party thing? this wiki seems to be written for someone who has been using hammer and the source engine for years. are you using xsi? -

Well the player will interact with many of the objects, I guess I just don't quite see why a grid is a must vs free placing items... Even in an FPS, why would a map be disadvantaged if it was free form "winging it" vs a snap too grid? The snap too might make things easier to place, but why does that affect anything else?…
