Benji, so your problem is with 8 versus the Intous 5? I like 8 and there are reg edits to disable some of ms items. Do you like the Intous 5, and do you find the touch controls useful?
So I just finished rigging, making the masks and LOD's. I'm going to make the promo items and submit! (Sorry for the cropped photo, I know you can't see the axe very well, stinkin locked camera)
We need to know your item (for which hero and for which slot) then you should look to the tri limit. Lod1 is the important one for the beginners so you should limit your tris by that.Hope it helps good luck.
been a while, and been quite busy with work and Dota 2 item stuff. took a break from that this evening for a little painting, did a short one of the lady: experimenting a little with colors and brushes, nothing too crazy though
update. I started the hair planes, still rough though. Its my first time doing hair. and here's a few of the items. going to move on to the low poly soon. Critiques please! This is my first complete character.
This one by SideFX was pretty decent (by internet tutorial standards) I thought. Sure, it doesn't go in-depth over every item on the shelf or interface, but you get a good feel for how the program works and can experiment from there.
Just make an armory! You can make multiple weapons, knives, grenades, etc. Plus tables, racks, trashcans, bullets, and a room to house it all + lighting. A full scene that contains the types of items you are interested in making.
I lowered the lightres on all items and it's now 561mb so still not ideal but I don't know what else I can do to lower the size. Sky has no lighting or shadows selected like you said.
yea, a complex item like a gun can be a bit much to learn on - Id say start with something super easy so you can focus your time on the textures... an ammo box or metal crate are always winners :)
Here's some really nice references: It's an SL8 so some things are slightly different (in fact, almost everything except the furniture is different), but it should be helpful http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=164516325 gunbroker is a wonderful resource
