Adding small patches of grass that lie below other big patches I guess.. Just like adding dark spots with a gradient to spots higher up.. A good example: As for the color variations, think of it as dried grass patches or worn spots: Hope that helps :)

@Pixelatedkiwi Yeah I looked at faf's wood texture for ogrimmar, and it looks like she added some grays (/cools) to the wood. I will add in some lighting too. but what about the design? I think it's sort of cool, but also I really don't know.
Finished up my sword for an assignment. Still would like to improve some things (changing the color of the chain, making the heart stand out more, detail the flesh, add a presentation scene,..) but time doesn't allow it right now, so it will have to wait. model
Very nice painterly stuff from you, dude. I think the metal is reading more like stone. I still don't consider myself any decent at metal painting yet, but I'd suggest making only the brightest of your highlights to be even brighter?
