Bah! Dodgeball is great fun. I loved it as a child and I still love it today (I'm a senior in Highschool). The Violence of it is half the fun, the other half is flourishing your ability to dodge 3 balls at a time. I think that looks really good and it works. Makes sense for there to be sulfur build-up around it as well. But I recall seeing a picture where some steam just sort of comes up out of subtle fissures in the ground, almost looking it's coming from nowhere. You could do a bit of both, with cracks and the ant-hill style vents. -

I think he means the colors are just really boring this way, it's as if there's a layer of grey over everything. Also saying it's for a dark and gritty game is a weak excuse, look at games like silent hill or resident evil. Those textures are pretty saturated and it gives a great fibe and feel to the game and doesnt make… -

The terrain texture is really letting you down - it tiles badly in the distance, especially on the hills. If you're using a texture with multiple levels (e.g. dds), transition to a medium tan for the final levels; otherwise, if it's a static scene, you can change to a different texture in the distance. I agree with the others here that the scene lacks proper lighting and oriental atmosphere. Try to use vertex colors to simulate lighting. This could help you pop out protruding rock areas and grassy hills more. The grass and the trees seem to use the same color green. Try a darker shade of green so the leafs do not blend… -

Only problem with Gnomon's location is Hollywood is a shit show in the evening and parking can be a big issue. Ideally I'd like to pick a spot that is a nice middle ground between the valley, and over the hill.
