Actually i think that its quite possible to use procedurals on characters aswell. Especially to specify materials, havnt you noticed all the "scaled up" cloth? Or as a bump on skin along with decals for lips, joints etc.
I use a wireless mouse to play Tribes 2. I have a logitech 700mx. Works great. There may be small delays if you're picky, but I don't have any issues personally. They are even better these days

That big decal on the middle wall is on the center of the composition and draws the attention too much for nothing important, I would make it less noticeable. Otherwise pretty much what the others said.

I made this decal a little while back, I really should make more, I didn't get a huge check for it but decent for the short amount of time I spent working on it.
Nice work man really clean model maybe you could add some decals to create more variation between the controllers areas Like the green and blue ones in this image
Tile the base material using a 512 or 1k, then layer the panel gaps, borders, inset hole punched panels, and the little circle details with decals from a 512 or 1k trim sheet.
