Ok next problem, I am having a shading issue with the stock. I tried to put it all in the same smoothing group but, as you can see, give its some really bad shading. The only way I found to get rid of it is to put the flat face in a different smoothing group, but that defeats the purpose. Is there a workaround for this or…
Make sure you get some nicely defined fur to cover where the tail connects with the body, or simply smooth it out. Right now it's rather... disturbing. As for the fur i'd suggest keeping it super simple for now and maybe add some alpha planes later, the character is rather cartoony and looks quite good smoothed over in my…
Didn't someone else just have the same art test up? It would probably help if you posted some wires so everyone can see exactly what's going on. I don't have much time, but one of the first things I notice is some ugly smoothing on the windshield, side window, bumper side, and on the "E" in Cream. Probably ought to check…
Are the eyes mapped onto a seperate section of the uvs or something? if not you should realy smooth them out the whole 5 sided thing looks really bad. Something about the smoothing on this model has always bugged me, i dont know if its the construction of the model or what maybe if you did some self-illuminated renders it…
Woah thanks for the refs guys! It's kinda hard to find where to keep rough shapes and where to smooth further. I found out that it's kinda annoying that all the sculpt programs give too much of a smooth feel because of the subdivision technique... I whish we could have dirty, blocky shapes without having to actually sculpt…
Just a couple of points about the model. The ridges on the sides should not be creased, they should be a smooth bulge out from the main cylinder. Also, the top and bottom edge of the barrel is not as clean and smooth as you have shown here. The top typically clamps on one end, and even if it has welded ends, there are fold…
I know they both have their pros and cons. I just get frustrated sometimes when something I can do with a few clicks solid modeling can have me running in circles with polys. This forum's a good resource. I wish that I found it a long time back when I was using booleans and wondering why the smooth modifier wouldn't nicely…
What was the smoothing options when you baked? What are they when you preview with normals on? They need to be the same. Also you may need to increase smoothing to remove some problems.. and gaining a few new ones. Erh.. and I'm talking about the lowpoly mesh. This is just guess cause it is usually what gives me problems.…
As I'm starting out to learn some 3D stuff on my own, I decided to create a gold cart. I started this about 3 weeks ago but did not had much time to work on it. The images below are some quick renders of my golf cart so far. What I'm trying is to really bring out the smoothness that you have on most cars, but as you can…
Hello, I'm trying to make a normal map for a low poly object from a highpoly object. however i am getting big hard edges on my normal map. iv put the side of the object in 1 smoothing group, i just don't know why this is happening. it doesnt seem to happen to other bits of the model there was some problems on one side but…
