emulating others people work for education is fine, even flattering so don't worry about that just note you are learning to make reality off a representation, (copy of a copy) So no one wants you to look at a texture and replicate it, not from an integrity stand point but as a model for learning. As an animation demo it doesn't show a whole lot.
