@Shini No worries dude, just trying to return to the community what it has provided to me. It wasn't that long ago I was posting in here getting frustrated :) Just wait until you start baking complex objects, and you can't figure out why your cage won't work or why you are getting horrid errors!
Although I meant it somewhat as a joke, there are reasons. Depending on the renderer, yes it can cause problems. More importantly Zbrush won't take it either and there are cases where you want to sculpt even hard surface objects (particularly in fantasy themed projects). And floating geo will not work in any offline…
Cool Vailias, I tried the very same method last week, trying to mimic the same tutorial. Tricky part that I couldn't get to work well was matching the rotation/banking on the Extrude vs the Flow Object. You could probably get it right at all spots by tweaking the Lattice, but it would be nice with a better non manual…
Yeah, the last place I worked had a really nice script set up for doing that sort of thing, but it sometimes exploded if your curve wasn't rotated just right. You often had to rotate it 90 degrees, do your duplicate-along-spline, then rotate the object back. Man I really don't miss maya.
Why are you trying to model the radio all as one piece, split it up like it is in real life. Look at the bottom of the radio, you can see the side panels are recessed and separate elements, the front, back and top panels are all separate as well... You're just making more work for yourself trying to get the whole object as…
Your cylinder, needs to be able to keep it's shape. So start off by simply blocking out the shape of your modell. With as low polycount as possible. Important by spherical object or cylindrical when making cuts on the curved part.. is that the edges often needs to have equal distance between them, if you want to skip doing…
How do I slice models like this video at 16:05 in 3ds max? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66IGMnPgEW0&feature=youtu.be He is not using the Slice Plane tool, or quick slice, at least I think he isn't. He is basically just slicing a whole object on an axis much like the Quick Slice tool.
Well, while you probably dont need to use *as* much as johny has there, you'de be surprised just how many times these problems can be solved by just using more geometry. I spend a good deal of time, thinking about how many sides objects will need for certain detail before i even start modeling.
Yes and I thought I already tried that solution here, but I will give it another shot. I do think i'm doing something wrong haha. Still no success.. Or wait..Do I need to model my highpoly seperately (rather than turbosmoothing my lowpoly) if I want this to work with a truly low poly object?
@epistularum There's no matching segment below the bevel to match the new support loops so it causes a pinching shading error. If the side is flat then just terminate the edge loops there. If there's a taper then it's going to need a little finessing. Here's something that could work for either. It's possible to reduce…
