You can always try to see if there's anyone around that has access to one, students, community colleges, game dev groups and meetups. I've had the opportunity to try different ones out 3 or 4 times without even seeking it out.
@Muzz - Here's some of my textures. I haven't been hand-painting textures for very long, so any advice or diagrams would be VERY appreciated as I've been stressing over this student project for a while now lol. Thank you! ^.^
May I ask what class you're taking where you get to make these models everyday? I'm an AAU online student, and haven't taken it yet, but want to! Massive Black is like my dream company haha. Great modeling by the way.
Yeah sorry I didn't mean to take anything away from the students. After graduating from the uni the other day I know what it's like to work your arse off at uni. Skillmister - Ahahaha thats true enough :P
Marvelous Designer has sparked in me the idea that fashion-design concepts will now be easier to quickly draft out in 3D. That demo from Kojima Productions definitely sparked my interest, though I wish they sold the program at a discounted rate for students.
Hmn, I never considered the product updates. I'm running a student version, so I didn't think I was going to be able to take advantage of those, but I just installed the latest service pack, and it *seems* to have resolved the issue. Thanks!
the first weapon i created as a student was an FN Scar and after all this time seeing your scar actually made me learn a couple of things so thank you yours actually has a story behind it . mine was just a generic weapon
My work from 2012 here might also help elucidate some tinier texturing things I learned. http://polycount.com/discussion/113859/erasam-emberhart-obese-blood-elf-engineer-blizzard-student-art-contest-2012-charac
Seriously, unless you're going to be a Doctor or Lawyer, I would recommend thinking twice about going to video game school. (unless you pull a big scholarship) You'd be in crippling student debt for most of your life, and well, that would suck.
I probably wouldn't use an app like this, but I don't like the seemingly misleading advertising. Also looks like licenses come with a time limit, looking at the splash screens for the students' work. Looks like it might be more like a lease agreement.
