Honestly, it doesn't matter. If you learn one package, learning the other is a matter of learning the new UI layout and hot keys. The concepts are totally transferable. -

The thickness of the leaves is off. Odd bevel kinda. How will you use it? When it comes to branches, it's all about the layout and how you'll use it in the end.. -

This is a good start, I quite like the layout for the beds with the curtain rails against the pillars. Though, I agree the bricks do look too clean. -

I use maya's uv layout to get everything to the same texture density, and then I scale up and reorganize. If you think of it as a puzzle, it's not so bad :) -

That looks great! I love that helmet. But I agree about the UV layout. The axe blade might have benefited from a few more pixels.
