See what exactly that culprit layer is doing. It's a folder filled with other layers doing god knows what. There could be a filter, a fill layer with some sort of texture in it etc that isn't playing nice with your uv set up. from what i know about using terrain, you cant have more than 4 layers painted over each other. once you get the 5th layer in an area where there are 4 other layers, you get that "rainbow map" as i call it. have you tried messing around with landscape? i havent used it but i think you may be able to have more textures with… -

5.5 is the best of the lot imo except: -no layer folders in 5.5 -no rotating brushes (texture brushes?) -the layer effects have been overhauled quite a bit in 7.0 I like 5.5 for the shortcuts they use, and how when i hit the square brackets ts cycles thru the brushes 'everytime' except for only sometimes.
