Specs wise the surface 3 is comparable to a low to mid-range laptop, so you should be able to run most 3d apps but I don't imagine work on really high poly stuff for instance. Though you'll probably want to add a keyboard and a mouse, and the foldup surface keyboard is not very good, so if you want to do 3d work on it…
We're here because I tried. This is time for reviewing and some Q&A. You have a possible solution for my issue? Let me ask about its details and eventually report for things that dont seem to fit my case. You link me a tutorial? Dont get mad if I cant find there what I need. Anyway some good knowledge is emerging, here,…
Thanks for the response. I do want the butterfly/mirroring effect in this case but not the seam. Can you clarify what a material finish filter is? I'm using the brushed aluminum material in Painter. It really seems like a left-hand/right-hand tangent space mismatch kind of like what is described for Maya…
Sorry I failed you Sodom :disappointed_relieved: Once again I lost control over my 'work-life' balance (lol) and effectively, big challenges continue to kick my butt :pensive: For now, I'll have to put this on my pile of shame/ unfinished projects and come back to it one day to finish. One thing I take from this, it's that…
Hey guys, Just wanted to inform everyone that today we released our first publicbuild of Archasis, a unique medieval inspired FPS/3rd Person melee combat game. We have entered it into the MSUC for phase 3. So far the MOD is well recived, we are currently ranked 4 out of 9,366 MODS with a 9.8 rating. It has been a challenge…
If it's not setup this way already, usually you want to separate glass parts of a model out to their own material. It's better for sorting artifacts and performance.
For most materials, this makes sense. But gemstones are better done as pure geometry, since refraction and dispersion are essential. Why would you want to make a flat gemstone material?
So I don't have time to do a tutorial, but here is a little write up about my process: So the very first thing I will do even before baking is I bring my High Poly into Marmoset and I prototype my materials. There are a couple of reasons for this. First it allows me to see what the final product might look like and…
Honestly unless you're regularly working with 50million+ poly models, and baking/texturing 8192x8192 textures 32GB is probably overkill for any reasonable use. But again, ram is cheap. As far as the 3930K, well its about 2x the cost of the I7, with maybe 1.4x the performance? Generally I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a…
Hi @alefrizzo I have a few notes if you'd like my 2 cents. 1. You're currently leading with some of your weaker pieces. The grass and mosaic, for example, don’t show your strengths as clearly as your environment work does. First impressions matter a lot, and you want to start strong. 2. There’s a heavy focus on props…
