In 3dsmax, you can quadrify a triangulated mesh in through the graphite modeling tools. There is geometry all -> quadrify all. Not sure if it will work perfectly though.

Cloth is just plain sculpting. Base mesh in 3dsmax -> sculpting -> retopo -> bake. I didn't use physics plugin if it's what you are asking.

I'm using XSI exclusively. I've switched from 3dsMAX and haven't looked back. Yes, I'm doing game art in XSI at work :)

I'm not sure about it, however I think you might have changed your uv for lightmaps by accident? I'm not familiar with 3dsmax though.

In 3dsmax you model that with splines, turn on render geometry, generate UVs (or use the sweep modifier) and you get nicely squared off UVs.

How do you straighten UV's like that in 3DSMax? Is there a common method everyone uses or do you have to put it into something like Unfold3D?
