Personally for me if this was intended to be baked down, I generally like it being blobbier than its realistically supposed to be just to exaggerate the normals. Of course you don't want it to just be goop, but having extremely tight edges is a complete waste of a texture map.
Yep, one shell for each face in this case. Level Of Detail is a different thing, that refers to models being swapped out with similar silhouette but lower poly models as the camera gets further away. You're right in that LOD and Mipmaps are similar in their intended function
Worked a little on blocking more armour, adjusted head - no anatomy refinement yet. Just a simple front autho for today. I made his waist slightly smaller, I think this version is more delightfully evil..which is 'good' (Pun intended)
Yeah I realize you might not be able to get anything out of the pictures yet. I intend to add a lot of props, pillars, ceiling beams and more to break everything up. I actually don't have a concept, maybe I should?
Olingova: Thanks! :) So, these impact particles I created back in 2016, and they were intended for human scale - but later I will revamp them to be more scale appropriate. Performance is pretty good - I run on GTX 970 and have no issues so far.
@gboxentertainment cool stuff. Given you are not using actual sparse octrees, which would be a requirement for large scenes and reasonable precision, what you are intending to do is similar to what CryTek does for GI http://www.vis.uni-stuttgart.de/~dachsbcn/download/lpv.pdf

just alphas for the fur. and no problem always wanted to play with fx composer and max. waiting for fx composer 2.0 to support cgfx which I intend to add to our engine, too, so far we had our own .shader format.
Is this a fresh trailer? The last one is more than a year old. It seems that this is a leaked internal video that the team never intended to be released to the public. Their homepage is listing a request that it be taken down by any site that is displaying it. Hopefully they'll have an official update soon.
hahaha nice animation...don't know if its intended but it looks like a strut ;) ... ....some of the movement is hard to read from that angle...maybe add a bit more up down motion if you want it to be a bit more menacing/ convey more power.
