@melviso you said you're not that familiar with the node editor, so it would be a great way to learn if you tried to recreate that node tree by following the images. This is a 7 min tutorial on some basics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zrd37k2tJM Additional things you need to know: - Shift + A to get the menu with all…
For the FBX stuff I know someone has been working on updating the exporter to be more UE4 friendly. Here is the github for that. https://github.com/mont29/blender-io-fbx Haven't tested it myself yet but it seems to be a step in the right direction. But I really don't think that Gooseberry seems to focus on anything that…
I first tried Blender about 3 years ago and to be honest it just didn't feel "right" at all. I guess that initial impression still rides as I'm reluctant to give it a go again. Maybe I'll try once I find some spare time but like somebody wrote here earlier that Blender name just rides on that initial wave of opinions and…
thanks for that! did i get that right: question 16 is about wireframe color per object ala 3ds max? that would be much appreciated for sure (there's also a custom build out there that does it). and number 19: what could be more important than that??? :# two things that for sure would be handy to have is backface culling…
I don't contend that Max has no re-mappable shortcuts, but I didn't like how things were set up and I don't like spending my time making a piece of software work the way I want it to when I could be creating. Blender does what I want it to do right out of the box. The shortcuts for basic translation tools are already set…
I'm trying to use Blenders lasso select (ctrl+lmb) was wondering if it's possible select all encompassed faces instead of just the ones the user can see? Right now I have to switch to wireframe mode every time I want to lasso select, otherwise backfaces and such are completely ignored. Also would be nice if there was a way…
There are some x,y,z sliders in the right panel (N key) for the 3D cursor if that helps. You also can select geometry in edit mode and position the 3D cursor too if you didn't know that already. In edit mode just select some verts or whatever, then hit Shift+S a menu will pop up and the 3rd option is cursor to selected.…
Hi, I'm new to blender. How can I set edges to be hard/soft like in maya ? How to do this on UV borders? EDIT: I think I figured it out. 1. Viewport need to be shade smooth 2. Auto Smooth On 3. Select edges and set Mark Sharp ...and for uv borders, at UV editing panel UV> seams from island (with all edges/faces selected)…
@f1r3w4rr10r Nice work. Wood is the hardest to get right procedurally because of how unique its patterns are. I am yet to see really good looking wood patterns created with substance tbh. I am looking for how to do this in Blender: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuPQNIx3dh8 Creating the textures are easy but how to…
Hi ! What would you use for decimation ? I like using Vertex Groups and the Decimate modifier, but I have to do the masking job (it's also a very nice feature! picking where you keep the detail geo), as it decimates everything - where Decimation Master in zbrush would do it smart and keep geo where you need it…
