There's a bit of a misunderstanding going on here. The issue is not about the fine differences between each implementation ; but rather, the fact that if a Blender dev comes accross a wishlist stating "Bevel shader", then the request may very well be ignored (and probably rightfully so) because it is already present. Put…
@Blaizer chill dude, it was you who started belittling musashidan and using a condescending attitude. When you accuse others of being envious, saying it's lies all lies and using f-bombs, people are going to start ignoring you and think less of you. La manera en la que nos comunicamos puede afectar mucho a otras personas…
once you deselect or do a other operation those settings are lost. it's not like maya where it always in the history so you can edit it later or max where the object stays intact and jsut gets edited via modifiers.
@Frankie, You need to move the LP plane above any objects you wish to bake onto it :) Is this what you want to achieve? I think a thread renaming is in order now too...It's more of a generic Blender thread now :)
Hmm no not really, the purple plane is what I want to bake from and the sphere is already a separate object, so I need the plane not to show up in the render and then I'll get the sphere shape in the alpha... Not sure if I'm being clear?
+1 for @Justo just ignoring the above and keeping posting helpful stuff ^^ Edit: "crash" means bug.. That means it's not the fault of your script. I loop objects in collections the same way but not in fast succession and it didn't crashed once (2.80)
It seems to have to do with the fact that Blender distinguishes between objects and meshes then, ok. This seems to be a concept unique to Blender though (?), e.g. Modo does not have such a problem. It just imports/ exports the OBJ with exactly the names you have defined.
I'm working on recreating Blenders transform system in 3DSMax: Almost done creating the basic move/grab part for objects, including snapping. Still a ways from release, but I thought a few people in here might find it interesting. :)

@pior Hey you can select every object one by one and choose the material in the object's material dropdown  Sorry hat to give the old blenderfanboy answer ;) Ok, if you want to script this (and it's no one-liner) you would have to do something similar to that (not tested) but this would work best in some kind of…
