I think this really depends on the size of the object in the game. If it's a "power-up" item for a top down/iso game then it's a bit little to noisy, if it's for an ego-shooter it's fine. Personally I would try to add some highligh colors (e.g. some green or blue parts). This would also make its function easier to read.… -

Thanks the the comments :) I agree, the water ended up looking viscous and jellylike, and it was hard to strike a balance while keeping the apparent depth from the normal map that prevents it looking like a basic decal. You could try adding several materials, like the tank has dark tracks(or is that just the shadow?) and white decal thingies. You can also mess a bit with the light position and brightness to get some lighter colors in there, like getting some more ridges highlighted. And slightly offtopic, i think you need to make the hood… -

Oh, don't get wrong, I have read the tech behind it and even tried it in UDK. What I mean in places like the tire decals, the pipes on the ground, and a few other areas, had excessive tess'ing which not only looked 'stretched', but felt cheap.
