The actual game looks like a blast, there's a lot going on there. But the art for sure looks below their standard in places. Wouldn't be surprised if it was delayed from Dec 2017.
There's decades of prior art. I sometimes wonder if the patent department is staffed with internet trolls. How this gets past even the most casual of glances is disappointing.
But do you really need that many textures for that ship? I mean there are lots of places you can use procedural textures. Probably in combination with decals.
