So, here's a couple of screens for you all. Isometric with topology, perspective without it, and one with a MICH combat helmet. I'm also just going for a general base I could hopefully quickly edit, rather than any one race.
For me, the 'wiz-bang-wow' of every Nintendo product I've purchased since the 'cube has quickly worn off and left me wondering why I bought it. There has only been one game that compelled me to play it, and that was RE4.
Ill second what Gir said and add that if you really want to level up your face sculpting do likenesses. Pick a celebrity (the more famous the better) and try to accurately recreate them. You'll learn a lot pretty quickly.
"Ew! You're naked! Spare me!" "Speak quickly Outlander, I haven't much time." "N'Wah!" Oh how I missed the good old days. I remember that town gave my GeForce 2 GTS are hard time. :)
probably depends how the modifiers affect the basemesh, I just quickly tried uvw maps and deformers which dont change facecounts, and there it worked. But yeah would surprise me if everything ran pixelperfect on my first public venture of this kind
Tech artists always seem to be in demand, and more secure position. I have a friend in that position that survived the Mass of EA layoffs awhile back. Although he was gearing for a modeling position (with a previous history in scripting), that quickly turned into a TA position.
Slow and steady wins the race, right? I'm keeping going downwards and at the moment I'm working on the base piece. Getting really tired of metal.. Blocked out the banner super quickly so I'll probably redo it when I'm done with the base.
I 'grew up' with ModTool and Foundation, but picked up the basics in Max quite quickly using the various tutorial sites (I modeled the water tower from cgtuts first, I think). I'm sure you'll be fine. Maya on the other hand.. ;)
Thanks for the replies and advice..... prefabs sound like the way to go, I'm sure I'll be back with more Unity queries... The Unity community seems to be growing pretty quickly, would be good to have a Unity specific area here like there is for UDK and Cryengine.
Yeah, honestly, I clicked the link, and turned around because someone was giving me something, and I turned around to see nude boobs bouncing. I tried to quickly scroll down, and it just got worse. Fortunately, no one saw it, but damn. ^^ That
