post your normal map to see if it's wrong. try applying the normal map in a default max shader, not xoluil and see if the problems still there. -

Rename TONS of groups from default of "Group XX" to something like "thisName_XXX". I will take a look at that command tonight, thanks Haiddasalami. -

Max does have this function by default since they added the ribbon, no third party scripts needed :) Main UI -> PolyTools -> Smooth Selection -

Have you tried turning it off then using the "Save current settings as default" option from the Options menu in the Edit UVWs window?
