After baking my animation to the joints, deleting controllers causes the parts of the mesh affected by those controllers to default to their original unkeyed pose...
In Maya extrude the circular face in then insert an edge loop on the other side. Unfortunately there's no real way to do that by default in Maya that I know of.
Note also that the Specular map for the PBR Specular/Glossiness workflow is expected to be in sRGB in Designer by default. (So the authoring made for this map will be in sRGB)
