Congrats! Can't wait till my turn comes. :D Question, how did you come up with the look for the sword on your site? It doesn't look 3D in those pics. Some sort of lighting trick? I MUST KNOW.
Managed to get some sculpting done today hurah :) got the sword pretty much done and did a quick colour test, I know it looks quite black and white at the moment but there will be some colour in there i promise when i'm finished :)
Finally uploaded my beginning trails work on the Ice sword. Here's my basic run at it so far, though it still needs the mesh around the blade and some extra elements as well. [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3xoZby1tuw[/ame]
Doesn't fit the aesthetics of the game imo. Looks too out of place. Your double axe is a cool concept though. I like how the edges are swords being held. Too bad its a mouse instead of dragon or lion hehe
Are you not going to sculpt the eagle head? I'd make the texture a bit subtler. And maybe add some gold colored elements to break things up, like this: I think it would be a bit boring to have the entire sword be 1 material.
I absolutely love the pirate chick. the guy doesn't really do it for me, though. brings back unpleasant memories of tidus. i'm digging his sword and the straps that keep it on, but other than that he looks like he's in his pjs.
Thanks Di$array! Yah I think I'll just give him a generic lava sword for now and maybe switch things up later if I feel like it. Here's a muscle blockin in zbrush so far. The legs are hard :(
Oh man, if I had a 3d printer I'd have tiny battle axes and swords all over my desk! How much are we talkin here? You may have some business coming out of Pittsburgh =D
It sounds like Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash maybe? The main guy in that is named Hiro Protagonist, computer software is referred to as ice, and there is a VR world that he can visit where he can do things like have sword fights.
There are little touches all over that model that show they used a mostly flat diffuse anyway (boot creases, edges of the tunic, lips, not to mention shield and sword). Wouldn't it be possible to frankenstein a new shader out of the vertex color and cell shading ones?
