Zbrush is a neat toy to make fancy pictures/ design concepts to impress customers. For true production it's ether Substance Painter/Designers, Mari and photogrammetry. And baking normals in Zbrush is a nightmare.
When you are hand painting with photoshop you are not using BRDF type shading, as I think you get with Substance, although for sure Mari; Mudbox is OK for basic painting.
onionhead - Besides bug fixes don't expect much new with Mudbox 2018 compared with 2017. You can do UDIM with Mudbox, it's the numbering scheme that is different then say Mari.
